Earlier this year, the Institute for Politics and Society held their annual Digital Czech Republic international conference in Prague in cooperation with the European Liberal Forum. The conference helps maintain the dialog between government and the private sector on digital economy issues, including the digitization of the public sector. AT&T was honored to be participate in the discussion.
The fast pace of innovation in technology creates a world of possibilities, but also presents unique security challenges. The cybersecurity threat landscape is constantly evolving, as is the complexity and sheer number of devices that employ security to help protect information in our increasingly connected world.
Businesses and governments around the world are working to identify strategies that best to address these security needs. At the Digital Czech Republic conference, I joined industry experts and public officials from around the world to discuss the increasing need for strong public-private partnerships, review cybersecurity best practices and consider in-depth solutions to help public and private entities navigate the evolving threat landscape.
At a high level, AT&T believes that public policies should encourage innovation, and help create frameworks that encourage the private sector to evolve the functionality and security of products and services.
One way AT&T is evolving technology and security is the software-defined network (SDN) that allows us to help maximize responsiveness, efficiency, and provide additional layers of security when combatting cyber threats. By virtualizing our security functions in parallel with our networking functions, AT&T is going beyond a single layer of defense and providing security for individual applications and data set to help minimize the threat of cyberattacks.
We’re not only leading with technology, we’re providing programs to reskill our workforce, helping give them the resources to support the move from hardware to increasingly software-based jobs of tomorrow. To that end, AT&T is investing resources, developing initiatives and collaborating with stakeholders to prepare students and those already in the workforce for success in the 21st century.
As more and more connected devices are sending and receiving data, security threats need to be top of mind for businesses and governments around the world. AT&T will continue working with the public and private sectors to help security keep up with the pace of innovation, and to develop a diverse pipeline of skilled workers to address the security needs of today and tomorrow.
